Pierre swam for the SA Schools, SA Student team and National Senior team towards the end of the apartheid era and held national senior titles in 400m freestyle and 25km open water swimming.

Keith Jansen moved to Stellenbosch in 2007 to swim under head coach Pierre de Roubaix until 2013. During this time, Keith captained the Maties swimming team and later joined the coaching staff and was manager for the gold winning USSA swimming team in 2015.

Karin swam her entire school career in Gauteng and received provincial colours multiple times. After school she started her studies at Stellenbosch University in Sport Science and obtained a PhD in 2004. After working with Maties swimming as a Sport Science consultant for numerous years, she joined the Maties team on a full-time basis in March 2012.
